Redistribution

To redistribute USB Analyzer ActiveX Control within your application, copy UsbAnalyzerAx.dll file into your target folder and in that folder execute the following command:

regsvr32 /s /i UsbAnalyzerAx.dll

Alternatively, you can specify the full path to UsbAnalyzerAx.dll library:

regsvr32 /s /i "Disk:\full\path\to\UsbAnalyzerAx.dll"

Now you can call methods and properties of USB Analyzer ActiveX Control directly from your application.

For Windows Vista:
To be able to monitor USB devices, your application has to be run in “Admin Approval Mode” (Run as Administrator).

To make your application automatically try to switch to “Admin Approval Mode”, it has to contain a special manifest either inside of its file or in the same directory. The manifest file should have the same name as the target.exe with a .manifest extension.

Please, check the samples that go with USB Analyzer ActiveX Control for appropriate manifests. Please, note: embedded manifest has a higher priority than the external one.

Please, find the details on MSDN page.

Note:
  • All USB Analyzer ActiveX Control versions should be uninstalled on your end-users’ machines where your end-product with integrated USB Analyzer ActiveX Control technology will be installed.
  • Monitoring of USB 3.0 devices requires system restart, while all other USB devices can be monitored right after your end-product with integrated USB Analyzer ActiveX Control is installed on your end-users’ machines.

To uninstall
, execute regsvr32 with “/u” key:

regsvr32 /s /i /u UsbAnalyzer.dll

After uninstallation you can safely remove UsbAnalyzerAx.dll file. To complete ActiveX component removal, reboot the system.

You can customize Elmedia Player settings in “Preferences” window, invoked from the main menu.

“Preferences” consist of several tabs:

1. General

elmedia5_prefs1

Path For Downloads: Choose the folder where your downloads will be stored to.

Autoplay files added to Playlist: If this option is enabled, once a file is added to playlist, it will start playing automatically.

Resume playing from last stopped place: Play a video starting from the point it was stopped last time.

Disable screensaver while in full-screen mode : If this checkbox is ticked, a screensaver will not be available when Elmedia Player plays files in full-screen mode.

Add downloaded files to playlist automatically: Your downloaded video will be automatically saved into your Elmedia playlist.

2. SWF
elmedia5_prefs2

Default flash quality: You can specify the quality a Flash movie will be played at: Low, Medium or High. The advantage of low quality mode is that it reduces CPU load and playback becomes very smooth. On the other hand, it essentially decreases movie quality. The specified value will be applied just on the go, if a Flash movie is currently played. In addition, this value will be selected automatically each time any Flash movie is played.

Enable Flash Local Security: Use this option to specify whether SWF or FLV content that uses older security rules can access the Internet. Using the older security system can be potentially dangerous. If you enable this option, every time when a SWF or FLV file on the web or on your local computer will try to load external resources from the Internet, your will get a warning message, where you can modify security settings. For details see: What are security settings?

Note:
- If you allow access to external resources, you won’t see this warning message again. However, you can enable “Always ask” option in the Settings Manager of Adobe Flash Player (at the Global Security Settings panel).- If you do not allow access to external resources, it is possible that SWF or FLV content will not function as intended.- If “Allow to send/receive data over network” option is disabled, you won’t get this warning message at all.- “Enable Flash Local Security” option is disabled by default.

3. Playlist

elmedia5_prefs3

Go to next playlist item if:

        the last frame is reached

This option permits to find out whether the current movie has been finished. Once this option is enabled, Elmedia Player proceeds to the next playlist item when the last frame of the current movie is reached.
        the frame number decreased

Elmedia Player is able to detect the last movie frame when unexpected or unusual frame sequence happens (the movie was rewound and played from the start). Check this option if you would like to proceed to the next item in the playlist when such movie behavior occurs.
the player stays on the same frame more than …

When you select this option, you let Elmedia Player jump to the next playlist item automatically if the movie stays on the same frame during the certain period of time. Elmedia Player gives you a possibility to set inactivity time of the movie manually.

Note: These options are applicable to SWF files playback only.

Known Issues

$
0
0

Problems that may arise while playing back SWF files:

  • If you tick “Enable Flash Local Security” checkbox in Preferences (which is disabled by default), then every time when a SWF or FLV file on the web or on your local computer will try to access external data, Settings Manager will be invoked where you can specify security settings. Refer to this page for more information:
    http://wiki.eltima.com/user-guides/elmedia-mac/preferences.html
  • Flash animation does not pause though “Pause” button is clicked. There are several reasons why this may happen:
  1. SWF file contains Sprite objects, which, actually, perform the animation.
  2. At the precise frame, the current Flash movie loads external resources that run with their own time sequence.
  3. ActionScript, located in the frame, triggers certain animation sequences (usually Sprites).
To sum it up, the main reason why the current animation cannot be paused is because some animation is not located on the main timeline. As the result, “Pause” option does not work as expected for such Flash movies.
  • If a SWF file contains ActionScript that triggers certain animation sequences (usually Sprites) or jumps to the certain frame, then “Back” and “Rewind” options may work incorrectly.
  • Sometimes it is impossible to move forward/backward to the specific frame of a SWF file using the corresponding slider or buttons. When you move forward or backward through a SWF file, Elmedia actually jumps to the next available key frame on the main timeline, but not to the specific inter frame. So, if the frame you want to move to is not a key frame, it will be omitted and the movie will be advanced or moved back to the key frame, neighboring the desired frame.
Problems that may arise while downloading online movies:
  • Some SWF files don’t load external Flash movies correctly, and, as the result, cannot be played properly. This may occur if a SWF file requests external FLV using FLVPlayblack function call. For some reason this call bypasses the required procedures, and thus Elmedia cannot trace loading, and some external resources may be omitted.
  • At this moment, Elmedia supports capture of files transferred only over “plain” RTMP. Capture of files transferred over RTMP Tunneled (RTMPT), RTMP Secure (RTMPS) and RTMP Encrypted (RTMPE) is not currently supported by Elmedia.
  • Currently, Microsoft Silverlight streaming video cannot be captured by Elmedia.
  • Currently Elmedia does not feature downloading of live RTMP stream (e.g. stream from web cameras, etc.)
  • At the moment, Elmedia PRO does not support download of MPEG Transport Stream videos.
  • WebKit engine (which is used by Elmedia for correct work of some of its options, like rendering web pages), provided in Mac OS X package of version 10.4.X and less, does not support all HTML5 features. Due to this fact, web pages that contain HTML5 elements in their code, will be displayed incorrectly by Elmedia, including video on those pages. Therefore, media files may not be available for downloading via Elmedia. However, this problem cannot be an applicable reason for a refund, as it is not Elmedia’s fault, but a question of HTML5 support provided by older Mac OS X versions.
  • Sometimes files duplication is possible in the list of files which are available for downloading with Elmedia. It happens when files have additional parameters in their names (like the date or time). As these parameters change, the links change correspondingly and Elmedia treats them like the links to different files, though practically the file is always the same.

Problems that may arise while playing back FLV files

  • Elmedia quits unexpectedly when playing some FLV files:
  1. Perhaps you are playing files saved at Mounted Shared Resource. We recommend playing FLV files which are located on your local hard drive. If you need to play the files from Mounted Shared Resource or if our application quits in spite of the fact you are playing FLV files locally, please follow these steps: go to Preferences, uncheck “Enable Flash Local Security” option, restart the application. If Elmedia still quits, write to support@eltima.com supplying the details.
  2. If Elmedia quits running on Intel-based Mac please make sure that “Open using Rosetta” option is disabled. To check this, go to Finder, search for Elmedia Player.app, invoke context menu and select “Get Info” –> General.
  • While playing for the first time an FLV file, the file’s total length may first be 00:00. In a while, the correct movie length will be displayed. You cannot move a movie forward/back until the correct length is displayed. This occurs because it may take Elmedia some time to display the movie length; or if an FLV movie was not properly created, and its total length is not available.

3.6 Trademarks shall be used in accordance with accepted trademark practice, including identification of trademarks owners’ names. Trademarks can only be used to identify printed output produced by the Software and such use of any trademark does not give the Licensee any rights of ownership in that trademark.

5. UPDATE POLICY
5.1 The minor upgrades (or updates) are free, but the upgrades to major versions can be purchased with 50% discount.
5.2 If the Licensee has purchased a license within a grace period before new major version release, the Licensor will provide the Licensee with a guaranteed free upgrade, whatever the License is.
5.3. The Licensee may continue to Use the previous version of the Software no matter whether the Licensee received the Update or not. On submitting the Update, the Licensor is to assist the Licensee in the transition to the Update, provided that: the Update and the previous version are installed on the same system; the previous version or copies thereof are not transferred to another party or system, not belonging to the Licensee; and the Licensee acknowledges that any obligation the Licensor may have to support the previous version of the Software may be ended upon availability of the Update.
6. WARRANTY
6.1 The Licensor warrants that:
6.1.1 The Licensor owns the Software and documentation and/or is in possession of valid and existing licenses that support the terms of this Agreement;
6.1.2 the Software conforms to specifications and functionality as specified in Documentation;
6.1.3 to the best of the Licensor’s knowledge, the Software does not infringe upon or violate any intellectual property right of any third party;
6.1.4 the Software does not contain any back door, time bomb, drop dead device or other routine intentionally designed by the Licensor to disable a computer program, or computer instructions that alter, destroy or inhibit the processing environment.
6.2 Except those warranties specified in section 6.1 above, the Software is being delivered to the Licensee “AS IS” and the Licensor makes no warranty as to its use or performance.
The Licensor does not and cannot warrant the performance or results the Licensee may obtain by using the Software. The entire risk arising out of use or performance of the Software remains with the Licensee.
The Licensor gives no warranty, express or implied, that (i) the Software will be of satisfactory quality, suitable for any particular purpose or for any particular use under specified conditions, notwithstanding that such purpose, use, or conditions may be known to the Licensor; or (ii) that the Software will operate error free or without interruption or that any errors will be corrected.
7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
In no event will the Licensor be liable for any damages, claims or costs whatsoever or any consequential, indirect, incidental damages, or any lost profits or lost savings, even if the Licensor has been advised of the possibility of such loss, damages, claims or costs or for any claim by any third party.
In no event will the Licensee be liable to the Licensor on condition that the Licensee complies with all terms and conditions stated in this License.
8. SOFTWARE ACTIVATION
8.1 Among other protection methods some Eltima Software applications may require activation.
8.2 The activation code is received by the client after the order was processed and is used to activate the purchased applications.
8.3 Access to the Internet on the Licensee’s computer is required to activate purchased applications. If there is no access to the Internet available, you can activate the software manually (offline). You will need to use another computer which is online to get the special activation file.
8.4 Purchased applications are activated automatically once the activation code is entered. Purchased applications may be occasionally reactivated in the background to ensure smooth and uninterrupted license compliance check. This will require Internet connection as well (as stated in section 8.3 above).
8.5 Hardware serial numbers (a computer’s unique hardware ID), the purchased product ID and the build number, together with the activation code, are encrypted and sent to the manufacturer’s (Eltima Software) servers to verify that the copy of the purchased application is genuine and to determine whether the number of permitted activations is not exceeded.
8.6 Free version of the Software performs activation in the background without users’ interference (no activation code is needed). Activation of Free version is required for statistics only and does not collect any personal information.
8.7 The Licensor guarantees that no personal information is collected during activation. Neither information about the Licensee nor about his/her computer is provided to any third parties without the Licensee’s knowledge or prior notification. Check the Licensor’s Privacy Policy for details.
9. NON-WAIVER
If a portion of this agreement is held unenforceable, the remainder shall be valid. It means that if one section of the Agreement is not lawful, the rest of the Agreement is still in force. A party’s failure to exercise any right under this Agreement will not constitute a waiver of (a) any other terms or conditions of this Agreement, or (b) a right at any time thereafter to require exact and strict compliance with the terms of this Agreement.

10. THIRD-PARTY LICENSES
The Software contains components that were created by a third party and that are governed by the third-party license, which is contained hereinafter as Exhibit A. The third-party license does not apply to the Software as a whole, even when it uses terms such as “software”, “program”, or any other equivalent terms/phrases. The Software as a whole is governed by EULA by Eltima Software (see above). Unless otherwise stated, graphics and files that are not part of the source code are governed by EULA by Eltima Software.
